My Mantra

"April showers bring May flowers... April showers bring May flowers... April showers bring May flowers..."

I have to keep reminding myself that all this rain will be worth it some sunny May day.

Great Sytle Never Gets Old

Check out this photo of Emily's great grandmother at a family wedding. The dress! The hair! The accessories! I would wear this right now. Kudos, great gram- you're totally fly.

Belle of the Summit

There are a number of reasons I wouldn't want to be the German Chancellor. But, number one on my list this week would be having to keep the stylish company of Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy at the NATO summit. But I love how Chancellor Merkel steals the stage in this picture. And, she is the effing Chancellor of Germany afterall, so cut the woman some slack (or slacks! bah-dum-ching!), she's got more on her mind than fitted silhouettes and J. Crew cardigans*.

*Blasphemy! Did I just diss Michelle?! I never thought the day would come. That being said, she has more on her mind, too. I still love you, Michelle!

What's In A Name?

Wolff Olins is a branding master. But, they don't save all their great ideas for clients. Check out the fun they had with their own name.

Totally Stitchin'

There are 3 things I wish I could do better (or do, period): speak french, sing on key, and sew cute clothes for myself. Over at Thimbly Things, they've totally pushed my want to sew to the top of the list. I think I'll start with this idea to add some sass to my tired collection of cardigans.

Vision Statement

I love the vision Ellie at Mint Design has for her new place. Good luck with the move!

Schlitz and Giggles

This is how I feel today: Like an octopus in space, grasping on to a can of beer with all my might.

Cheery Cherry Blossoms

Happy first day of spring to you all. While it may not feel quite like spring has sprung on the east coast (snow?! What did we do to deserve this?) I assure you, the cherry blossoms will soon bloom and happy days will be here again.

Until then, why not wait out the last few chilly days of the year with some jaw-dropping garland from Sophia Cuvelier. Hey, it looks like the cherry blossoms are in bloom after all.

The Hoop-lah

A bit of advice for the fellas: If you want your girl to get off your back about watching so much sports, and actually have her support your goal to watch ever college basketball game that airs in the month of March- get her to enter her office basketball pool. Case in point: Me.

Normally, I couldn't give two hoots about college basketball. But suddenly, I have $5 and water-cooler pride on the line so I am sick with March Madness. Colin couldn't be more pleased.

Irish Potatoes

Every city I've ever lived in celebrated St. Patrick's Day in a similar fashion: Beer, Bagpipes, Drunk-Girls-With-Green-Plastic-Hats.* Philly has added a new level to this mighty mixture: The Irish Potato. It's not a potato as much as a small ball of cinnamon-covered mixture of coconut, cream cheese, and sugar (lots of sugar).

They actually look like cute little potatoes, and since I love all things mini and cute, I was on board. Plus, it's a member of the candy/dessert family, which I am a ardent supporter of. The Philadelphians love 'em, almost as much as their cheese steaks and Eagles. So, when in Philly...

The verdict? I'm not quite convinced. There almost unbearably sweet, and the taste of the cinnamon coating tastes like dirt to me. Two days later, 1/2 of the package remains untouched. That's not a good sign. But, who knows- maybe after 6 green beers and a pile of corned beef, nothing would be better. Now where's my green plastic hat?

*Not that there's anything wrong with that

Gigantic

For some reason, this trailer makes me inexplicably melancholy. Of course, I'm going to see the film anyway

Lazy Sunday

I had a lovely birthday yesterday. It was gray and chilly here in Philly, which made for the perfect lazy Sunday. We brunched, we shopped, we ate cupcakes. What more could a girl want?
